For startups and high-growth companies, insurance needs can change significantly as they raise capital, enter new markets and expand their operations. Specialized brokers have built businesses around these requirements, offering coverage and risk management services tailored to companies whose exposure evolves alongside their growth.
The challenge for larger insurance groups is to incorporate that expertise into broader platforms without losing the specialized services that attracted those clients in the first place. The Baldwin Group is taking that approach with Founder Shield, which is completing its transition to the parent company’s brand and becoming its Innovation Practice.
Founder Shield joined The Baldwin Group in 2021. Since then, the business has continued serving emerging companies through insurance products designed for sectors including life sciences, technology, media, financial services and small business. The company says it has served more than 20,000 clients over more than a decade of operations.
A unified brand for specialized insurance services
The transition places Founder Shield under The Baldwin Group’s corporate identity while maintaining its focus on high-growth businesses. The company said its specialized solutions, expertise and client services will continue, with insights, resources and client portals accessible through foundershield.com and baldwin.com.
“Founder Shield brings capabilities and talent that make The Baldwin Group a stronger, more integrated firm,” said Michael Robinson, President, Innovation Practice at The Baldwin Group.
“As our Innovation Practice, we are adding momentum to a firm built for what’s ahead, and we couldn’t be more excited to finalize the brand transition.”

Kyle Jeziorski, Managing Director, Innovation Practice at The Baldwin Group, said the name change would not alter the company’s commitment to its customers.
“The Founder Shield name may be changing, but its commitment to clients remains as strong as ever,” Jeziorski said.
“This transition opens the door to broader capabilities, greater collaboration, and a forward-thinking approach to risk and insurance that helps protect the possible for clients.”
The Baldwin Group operates as an independent insurance distribution firm under The Baldwin Insurance Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: BWIN), providing insurance, risk management and employee benefits services. The company reports representing more than three million clients in the United States and internationally.
Founder Shield’s transition formalizes its position within that broader business. The announcement does not specify changes to its insurance products, pricing or operating structure beyond the brand transition and its designation as the Innovation Practice.
